CALCULATE YOUR ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT
THE CO2 CALCULATOR FOR COMPENSATION

NatureLab's interactive tool makes it easy to calculate your ecological footprint in carbon equivalent. To calculate your ecological footprint, enter the necessary data in the tool below, then offset with certified carbon credits.
Whether you want to offset a family trip, your annual car travel, or the energy consumed by your home, NatureLab's online CO2 calculator allows everyone to quickly estimate the impact of their daily activities on the environment. Each offset made with the calculator gives a certified carbon credit per ton of CO2 offset, in addition to planting four trees in the Quebec forestry program.
ABOUT THE CO2 CALCULATOR
HOW TO CALCULATE YOUR ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT?

To calculate your ecological footprint, you must first have certain data, for example on your energy consumption or your vehicle travel. Navigate through the different tabs of the calculator to enter your information, then calculate your ecological footprint in carbon equivalent in order to offset it with certified credits.
Ecological Footprint Calculator - Transportation
First, NatureLab's CO2 calculator allows individuals to easily quantify and offset their transportation trips. To calculate the ecological footprint of transportation, simply choose a type of vehicle, then enter the mileage traveled. It is possible to add multiple vehicles, for example if the individual owns different vehicles, or if they use public transportation.

Ecological footprint calculation - Homes

Next, it is possible to use the calculator to quantify the ecological footprint of the energy consumed by your home. For this calculation, the source of energy consumed is crucial. Fossil energies are polluting carbon compounds that require a higher compensation. The most polluting energies are natural gas, oil, coal, propane, and wood combustion. Also, residential electricity that comes from thermal or nuclear power plants is much more polluting and should preferably be considered in the calculation. Conversely, residential electricity from wind turbines, solar power plants, and hydroelectric dams is already lower in carbon emissions.
Ecological Footprint Calculation - Travel
The travel industry, mainly because of aviation, is a major contributor to atmospheric carbon emissions. With NatureLab's online tool, it is possible to calculate the ecological footprint of your travel. Enter the departure and arrival cities, even stopover cities, to calculate the ecological footprint of your flights. Going on a cruise? It's easy, just enter the number of days and crew members, and it's calculated! The tool even allows you to cover your hotel nights and car rentals.

The carbon calculator data

The data used to feed the CO2 calculator comes from government databases in Canada and the United Kingdom. This data is compared and adjusted each year to ensure the best possible accuracy of the footprint calculations. However, it is important to understand that the calculator tool is used to estimate one's carbon footprint, and that exact calculations require much more precise data and hard work.
When a company wants to become carbon neutral, or quantify its carbon footprint, that's when NatureLab offers greenhouse gas (GHG) quantification services, using certified and independent professional partner network.
